What We Check — and Why
Every candidate — male and female — undergoes a standardized background investigation. For male clients in the United States, this includes identity verification against government-issued documents, a federal and state criminal records search, and civil status confirmation to verify marital history.
For female candidates in Colombia, Zafira conducts identity verification through the Registraduría Nacional, criminal background checks through the Policía Nacional, and civil status confirmation through notarial records. All of this is performed by our in-country team under current Colombian legislation.
Red Flags We Detect
Roughly 15% of initial applicants do not pass the verification phase. The most common red flags include active marital status (individuals who are still legally married), undisclosed criminal records, and identity inconsistencies — such as names or dates that do not match official documents.
Less obvious but equally important: during the personal interview phase, our advisors assess sincerity of intention. Candidates who demonstrate transactional motivations, unrealistic expectations, or inconsistent narratives are flagged and removed from the process.
